How does one build a strong connection with Salah?
SubhanAllah. Salah is a big part of the deen, how does one build a strong connection with it?
First off I wanted to start with emphasising the blessings aswell as the importance of Salah.
Salah does not only benefit you in the akirah but aswell in this Dunya. Many times we find ourselves occupied or perhaps distracting ourselves in worldly matters, in many cases people hardly are in the remembrance of God which leads many astray and further away from their Deen. Salah is what keeps us in the remembrance of Allah.
Change your perspective on how you think about Salah. Don't think of it as 'it's something that we have to do just for the sake of it' change that mindset. Salah actually BENEFITS us so much.
For example, if Fajr Salah is missed the noor (glow) of the face is taken away.
If Dhuhr Salah is missed, blessings are taken away. If Asr Salah is missed, strength is taken away from the body. If Maghrib Salah is missed, the beauty of your Imaan is taken away. And lastly if Isha Salah is missed, the peace of your night is taken away. Why miss out on salah if these are the things that are taken out of your life if you don't perform it? If you knew the rewards to the prayers you would run towards them, crawl to them if you had to.
The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: 'If the people knew what (reward) there is in the Isha prayer and Far prayer, they would come even if they had to crawl.'" (Sahih)
So change your perspective on how you think about Salah, and whilst performing wudhu, tell yourself that you are doing this to benefit yourself. Allah doesn't need our Salahs, we need them.
In the Adhaan, AllahuAkbar is repeated. This means that Allah SWT is greater than anything you are doing in that moment of time, it means you should leave whatever you are doing to pray to the Lord Most High. It is also said in the Adhaan: come to prayer, come to success.
Meaning that every time we go to pray salah we are being called to success and great reward.
